Valuation of Sainsbury and writing the report Research Paper

Valuation of Sainsbury and writing the report - Research Paper Example The low valuation of the company exposes it to dangers of potential takeover target. To enhance the value of the company the board is thinking of measures to improve the company valuation. There is an increased perception that the company will be able to benefit from geographical diversification and to improve its image in the market. The company management has come up with the idea of acquiring the UK based J Sainsbury Plc in a bid to improve the valuation of the company. The companies listed on the London Stock Exchange exhibit high level of compliance to corporate governance and corporate social responsibility practices. The domestic companies are mandated to adhere to the corporate codes and ethics. If a company fails to comply with any particular code then it has to explain the reason for the non-compliance. This ensures transparency in financial reporting and makes the financial reports of the company more credible. The retailers in the European region have a strong brand image and are highly responsive to the requirements of the customers. The major retail chains in UK like Tesco, Sainsbury are mature and are continually expanding internationally as well as in terms of wider range of products and services. The retailers in the country are diversified in the true sense with some of them even engaged in financial services. Even Sainsbury is involved in banking services. The movement of the retail chain into financial services is a type of horizontal diversification (Welch & Worthington, 2008). Sainsbury is a UK based company with a diversified range of products and services. By the acquisition of Sainsbury, CF Inc will be able to make a foray in the European market. The primary activities of Sainsbury are retailing in groceries and other related items. The company also has an alliance with the Lloyds Banking Group in financial services (Reuters-b, 2011). In the recent financial crisis the retailers across the world witnessed a fall in the net income owing to the reduced consumer spending. With the rebound in the economy the performance of the retail industry is expected to improve. The economies across the world are slowly on the way to recovery. With a rise in the level of economic activity it is anticipated that there will also be arise in the disposable income of the consumers. This is likely to have a positive impact on the retail businesses as well. The consumer demand is expected to rise with the increase in the income level. It is expected that the consumers will increase their retail spending which will also boost the earnings of the retail businesses. Future of retail- Advancement in technology like internet facilities has made retailing an exciting and challenging field. The recent fundamental changes have altered the ways and mechanism of retailing. Despite this retailing is necessary in some form or the other. For instance though the manufacturers are now able to sell directly to the consumers through online system but st ill it is difficult for the consumers to make all the purchases online. The traditional retailers operating through physical stores would still be necessary. This is because for some products the consumers are convinced only after a thorough examination of the product before purchasing it. In some cases the experience of going to the retail store is as important as making the purchase (Harris, 2000). Valuation of Sainsbury The fundamental analysis involves valuing a company based on important financial

Administrative Law in Public Health Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Administrative Law in Public Health - Essay Example This essay is going to examine the Public Health Emergency Law in the United States as an example of a health administrative law. Administrative health laws are public policies ratified to regulate and govern the health sector either in a country or globally. Public health policies are implemented by a governmental agency or by players in the health sector. In most cases, a governmental agency is appointed to oversee the implementation of the public policy. Public health policies are laws which must be respected and practiced carefully due to its recognition in the constitution. Administrative health laws are distinct from other laws such as criminal laws which are practiced at a courtroom (Gostin, 2000). However, the breach of these public health laws amount to breach of the constitution and thus, legal action is usually taken against individuals breaking these laws. For example, in the case of Frank v. Maryland, 359 U.S. 360 (1959), the court held that the defendant was liable to pay fines amounting to $ 10,000 for operating a health facility without a license after CDC official inspection. Understanding adm inistrative public law is vital in the implementation of these vital laws in the society. Public health administrative law explains the relationship between government agencies, courts and the regulated institutions. The Public Health Emergency Law is a public policy enacted in the United States to govern, regulate and respond to health emergencies in the quickest form possible. In everyday life, several health risks, threats and emergencies are exposed to several individuals. Due to the exposure of US citizens to these health risks the senate passed the law to protect US citizens in the occurrence of health emergencies. After the September 2001 bombing, the US has undergo exposure to several health related risks such as an anthrax

The Entwistle 4mat Review Theology Religion Essay

The Entwistle 4mat Review Theology Religion Essay Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity allowed me to understand the past occurrences of psychology and theology. The book displayed the religion and confidence that psychology and Christianity should combine for it to possess a higher understanding and permitting the client a higher probability of healing. So as to do this there should be an entire understanding of every element in and of itself. Entwistles (2010) book presented all the facts from history as it has formed society these days. As he mentioned these historic events, it shows simply how the knowledge today may be a reflection or reaction of what happened then. Christianity has invariably had an enormous impact on world history and the way the planet is viewed. The author makes it clear that God offers humans reality and honesty in His Word. When consideration of his works is given his Word has begun to demonstrate an impact on the planet. The Word of God is the Bible that God created as a guide to living life in the way that God designed to be the best for humankind. Theology and Psychology do not appear to be to be compatible however they are similar when it involves the appreciation and comprehension that enables a persons life to be meaningful. The planet is filled with individuals that have many abilities to share. God created us in his image therefore that makes each of us distinctive in our own sense. We all have things of our own to share and contribute to the world around us. Theology and Psychology are earnestly applied in human character and human purpose. The author identifies within the book that there are not any dissimilarities between the holy and therefore the worldly person when it involves the truth. Within the hearts of men, good and evil exists; it is our human nature. All are born into sin, being sinful is inevitable. The author makes a sensible argument when he wrote this book. The incorporation of psychology and theology makes for a nice combination in helping individuals with an assortment of issues. He emphasizes the magnitude within the ever-evolving worldviews towards the last part of the book and the author even provides an example for all to pursue. It would be helpful when aiding clients or daily interaction with others. The practice of integrating the approaches between psychology and Christianity is the result that has taken complete type from psychology and the reality that God has given to humankind (the Bible). The theories, worldviews and sinful intentions that are established throughout the society can offer certain obstacles for the combination of psychology and Christianity from individual and business views. The main goal of secular psychology and Christianity is to assist people to prevail over any problems or circumstances in their lives. Any recipients of the secularisms and Christianity itself ought to look past their pictures and target the task that helps man through the troublesome times in their lives. The application of theology and psychology will turn out miracles in individuals lives. It appears as if the aim of this book is to supply universal steerage toward the advancement of humanitys overall state of being. Concrete Responses This information I gained from this book helped me to put a puzzle together that relates to my parents marriage. Psychology tries to explain why we as humans do what we do to each other. Christianity shows us how God wants us to treat each other. God gives us a better way. When I think back to what I witnessed as a child during my parents marriage and subsequent divorce was that when God was in the midst of our home, the relationship that my parents had was strong. When God was no longer the center of our lives my parents relationship fell apart and ended in divorce. The impact and the emotional pain of my parents divorce are still with my siblings and me to this day. The psychological and spiritual support that my parents needed at that time was not available to them. I remember my Mother saying that she felt like they were abandoned by our church when our family needed their support the most. Our family separated from our church after my parents divorced and it was many years later before any of my family sought out a church home again. I think we as a society know better now. When you know better you will do better. There is more psychological and spiritual support for families that are in crisis now. I can see the value of what I want to do as a profession, and how I want to help families even more clearly now. Reflection The questions that I actually have for the author of this book are: How do we convince those in need of counseling services to decide on a Christian counselor versus a secular counselor? How will the concept of Christian counseling grow and flourish in the secular world? I would think that possibly the best means of promoting Christian counseling would be through word of mouth. For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard. Acts 22:15 (NKJV) It is important that we are passionate witnesses for God. Many people will rely on word of mouth when they are in search of a professional person or service. I did not feel that this book was well laid out. It appears to be too academically weighted which means it might reach a wider audience if the words, theories and ideas were a touch more simplistic. I found myself having to look up particular words in order to fully understand what was being discussed. It was quite distracting and time consuming. Somebody with less education than myself would most likely have a troublesome time reading and understanding this book. Although it is academically heavy, I actually found that it is a resourceful tool and filled with insight regarding the planet and the way we can view theology, psychology and Christianity. Upon finishing the book, I actually gained an abundance of information and would suggest it to others. Action When I become a Christian counselor, my approach to reaching my clients will be to consistently depend on the power of prayer, the Holy Spirit and Gods truth in scripture to enable them to make positive changes in their lives. I will want to share my own personal experiences to help my clients to relate to me and to trust me and to help them to understand that I experience the same challenges as they do in life. Hopefully, I can be an example of love, compassion, understanding, and proof of happier days on the other side of whatever the problem might be that they are dealing with. Humbling myself before my clients will enable me to serve them as if I were serving God. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV) Serving others with the only purpose of reflecting Gods love and bringing them into His presence could be an invaluable experience that I want to be a part of. There are a great deal of people in this world of strife that are hurting and in need of comfort and peace. I would like to become someone that God can use to bring this about for his people that he loves so dearly.

My Five Year Plan After Graduation Essay -- Personal Goals

My Five Year Plan After Graduation Five years after graduation I plan to obtain a master's degree in law enforcement. Right now I'am really not sure what I really want to truly do for the rest of my life. The only thing I like doing is finding clues and figuring out the criminal in mystery books. I know that sense I like doing that, it leads me to desiring a position as a detective or something dealing with the FBI. Im thinking that its most likely that I will go to a university. If I do, I will go to the University of Phoenix. I’m attending the University of Phoenix for a few reasons but I’m ultimately going to the university to become a detective. I want to be successful and rich so I can have all the good things in life. I want to be able to have a family without financial stress and worries. My entire life my mom has and still is working two or three jobs just to make ends meet. That’s not where I want to be with my future. I want a sense of comfort that no matter what happens I’ll have the money to take care of it. I don’t exactly need a luxurious lifestyle, but I’d like to partake in a life of nicer cars, extravagant home, and cash in the bank. So after all I guess I would like to have a few dollars. It’s often hard to grow up without a substantial amount of money in the family. I’m going to make sure that my husband (who will be work ing just like me), and kids don’t have to go through all of that. On a more selfish side of the scale, I want to get out of that whole situation as well. I’d like to drive expensive cars and wear the clothes, and most of all, I always want to have money in my pocket. Like everyone else, I just want the good life. In addition to all of that, a master's degree or any kind of degree looks good on any application. So many more doors are opened to you if you have a degree instead of just a high school diploma. With the popularity of college lately, there is so much more competition in the workforce. With a degree you would not only have that on your applications, but you’d have the knowledge that you would need to attain the right job. A university or college is my chance to make something of myself, no one in my immediate family has graduated from college yet so I’d like for them to be proud of me for that achievement. I used to think I was going to be a professional basketball player but I’m too slow and not t... ...ell I plan to receive an academic scholarship, get students loans, and borrow money from a relative. I can aquire an academic scholarship by getting into the top five percent of William B. Travis Highschool of class 2007. I can get student loans by applying to the College Funding Services. I will get my money fast and make no payments until after graduation. Plus I have a grandpa that says he can pay for some of my college money. College is going to start my own life on a foot that is ready to leap because my career is going to take off right out of the gate. All-in-all I’m going to college for three main reasons. My immediate family is a reason because I want them to be proud of me for doing something right for once. My future family is also one because it’s a big part of my life that I want to be happy and always feel comfortable. Finally for my personal financial well-being, so I can be able to treat myself to all the luxuries I want for myself. Going back to line one, all of these things are a part of my future. Isn’t that what college is for after all, to prepare people for their own futures and what they bring? A university is not my future, it’s only the beginning of it.

Elements of Stress

Stress is a state of tension created when a person responds to the demands and pressures that come from changes in daily life. Because of this, stress consists of many elements: its causes, effects, and ways in which to cope with it. Therefore, stress has significant impact on people. Stress isn†t a condition that just came out of the blue, like everything else in life; it was caused by something. There are four major causes of stress, each of which have their own distinct characteristics and individuality. Physical appearance and general well being is one of the four major causes that everyone has experienced at one time or another. For the most part, adolescents and older women experience more physical stress related causes than others do. This is because of extreme hormonal changes such as, puberty, menopause, etc. Puberty in adolescents also causes increasing concerns about weight and perfection in beauty. (Whittlesey, pp. 19) A model is one person who exhibits a lot of stress because of the need to strive to be thin and beautiful. This is not to say that different age groups don†t also experience this. The second major cause is social situations and interpersonal relationships. For the most part, this category applies to everyone. Peer groups are one of, if not the most, frequent stressors around. These groups influence opinions, judgements, and other pressures to an individual. Therefore causing an increasing level of unwanted stress. Peer pressuring one another to do drugs is a prime example of peer groups in relationship to stress. Sexual relationships are another stress causing agent. Sexual relations cause tensions and sexual frustration, which can cause stress. In younger adults, these stressors can be greater because of frequent question about sex and other s prying into the personal sexual matters. For instance the gossip of whom slept with who and so on. is because of added tensions and frustration. An uneven balance between the two partners increases stress. School is another major cause of stress. (Mendelson, pp. 29-37) This is another stress that everyone will eventually have if they have not already experienced it. As for school, competition, usually within grades, is a major concern. Competition brings a person down from their original state of being. Students can get so infatuated with academic competition that they result in the slipping of grades. With older students, SAT†s, ACT†s and other college entrance exams can usually cause stress levels to rise. (McCoy, pp. 104-107) The greatest stressing agent in the school environment is from that of the teacher. (Joy, pp. 84) Teachers create undue place frustration, aggression, and confusion on their students. Some teachers have no compassion for their students work load and schedules. Most students have notably full schedules, whether it is schoolwork, sports or other extracurricular activities. These feelings are not the only things that teacher create. The responsibilities and expectations the teachers put on their students add to the amounts of stress from school. No wonder school is one of the major stressors in a person†s life. The last stress factor is family relationships. The most prevalent form of stress in the home is that created by divorce or remarriage. Although this form is newer, it involves a great deal of the population. In the Untied States, â€Å"45% of all children during 1983 and 1984 have experienced the divorce of their parents and will spend some of their growing-up years in a single-parent home. † (Joseph Alper pp. ) Pain, suffering and tension are feelings brought on by the separation or remarriage of one†s parents. Divorce is not the only type of family stress; death or serious illness of a family member can contribute to the formation of stress. Responsibilities at home also can create stress. The daily hassles of chores and responsibilities all add up to stress. Stress therefore can be found in many of our daily activities and problems. Sir Isaac Newton was correct in saying the statement, â€Å"For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction,† because it applies to everything, especially stress. Stress, as an action, creates two common types of reactions. The first effects are emotional effects. Anxiety if the most well known of the emotional effects of stress. â€Å"The feelings of uneasiness or apprehensiveness experienced by anticipation of a threatening situation† is known anxiety. (Mendelson, pp. 43) Butterflies before taking a major test or nerves when one is flying on an airplane for the first time are two principal examples of anxiety. Depression is another well-known emotional effect of stress. Low self-esteem or something-tragic happening in someone†s life can construct depression. Not only does stress cause that, but it also creates mental illnesses. These can range from mental confusion to serious mental illness such as schizophrenia and possibly even suicide. Emotional effects are not the only stress-related effects. As referred to in the preceding paragraph, the second type of effects of stress is physical. In recent studies it was stated the â€Å"two-thirds of all visits to a physician are from stress related illness. † (About Stress Less: Stress Facts, pp. 1) The most frequent illness seen is that of a headache. Headaches can because by many things, but stress is at the top of the list. One illness is not as frequently seen as the daily headache, is insomnia. Hypertension, more commonly known as high blood pressure, is another good example of a stress-related disease. About 5 out of every 10 Americans suffer from stress-related hypertension. In relation to hypertension is Coronary Heart Disease. This illness is another one that is quite familiar with the American public. Not only are there stress-related diseases, but there also stress aggravated diseases. Diabetes is one of these diseases. Another stress aggravated diseases is psoriasis. This disease seems to â€Å"flare† when a person aggravated or â€Å"stressed out†. One more major stress aggravated disease is alcoholism. Some if not all of these physical effects can lead to dismal fate. â€Å"More than half of all US deaths between the ages 1 and 65 result from stress-related lifestyles. † (About Stress Less: Stress Facts, pp. 1) â€Å"42. 6% of adults 18= years old experienced adverse health effects from stress. † (About Stress Less: Stress Facts, pp. 1) Stress can be a cause or an effect, but anything of either nature needs to be coped with. Just like the effects, there are two different types of ways to cope with stress. Healthy stress management is one of two ways to deal with stress. The art of breathing is a good start when discussing stress management, because it helps to control anxiety. Singing is one immense type of breathing technique. Music ties right in with singing. Not only are both relaxing, but you can practice both without even relaxing it. Mediation is also another peaceful, relaxing why to cope with stress. An example of this is yoga. Just like mediation, exercise is also excellent for stress reduction. You can burn the fat, and relieve daily tension all at once. Along with exercise is a healthy diet. The right foods can improve your physical, mental, and emotional state of well being all at one time. The most important way to cope with stress is having friends. Friends are there to make you laugh and cheer you up (more ways to cope). If you need to talk about a problem, they are always there. And you can tell them anything. There are many healthy ways to cope with stress, which are not all listed above. Therefore there is a variety for each individual to choose from. Stress can be coped with in many was both positive and negative. The second way to cope with stress is unhealthy stress management. Overeating is one of these ways to deal with stress. If one chooses overeating as their outlet they will probably generate more stress for themselves because of low self-esteem or obesity. Unsatisfying sexual relationships with many lovers is another way to cope with stress. This choice can lead to low-esteem, possible STDs, and maybe even unwanted pregnancy. The most popular unhealthy stress management is drug use. Not only illegal, such as smoking and drinking, but also legal use, like tranquilizers. Choosing drug use can lead to drug abuse and other harsh consequences. So, there are both unhealthy, as well as healthy outlets to cope with stress.

Science vs arts Essay

I consider that Science and Arts are strongly bonded as, though they are two totally opposite areas of knowing, they manage to create a balance that holds tightly the emotions and the reasoning of human mankind. Art is the expression of human creativity, of human skill and imagination. It is usually represented through paintings, music, sculpture etc. Art is created to be appreciated or criticized. The Art creates beauty, and it gives the audience the opportunity to choose whether the beauty is indeed gorgeous or hideous. I think that the beauty of a work of art is not measurable. For me, beauty represents the ability to convey strong emotions and powerful feelings through the actual displayed work of art. For me, an inspirational painting like an old American Apache that rides his horse into the sunset is much more beautiful than a portrait of a beautiful girl. But tastes cannot be discussed, as there is no standard of taste among human beings. This is why art is so controversial. Science is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiments. Science is the area of knowing that explains every phenomenon so people would understand it. It needs precision and accuracy in data collecting as Science is all about exact measurements. Science helps the world develop thoroughly as it is the only way we can know the truth. A thorough evolution is an evolution that comes as closely as possible to reality. On one hand, I think one completes each other as Art is the perfection of emotion and Science is the art of numbers. Taking into consideration the fact that the world has evolved through science, it can be said that Art has changed because of Science. But art itself is a science that needs exact measurements and accurate calculus. Work is recognized as a work of art through reasoning the feelings and the emotions one gets while observing the piece of art. Observing, as said in the definition of Science, is an action done in order to get the closest answer to reality. Reality is given by  Science, which means that, basically, Art is Science. On the other hand, it can be said that Science is an Art too, as the biggest discoveries were made by passionate scientist that wanted to prove the world that the things known so far were wrong. This means that they were put into a situation in which they, through imagination, reasoning and emotion, realized they were given false or erroneous information. Probably, their frustration and their ambition showed the world that through creative thinking and imaginative reasoning things that are unknown to mankind could be explained. It is extremely difficult to have a concept of knowledge upon a thing that does not exist. This inquires imagination and creativity, two vital features that create art. In conclusion, Science and Arts share mutual importance to humankind, tough they study totally different subjects. Their huge discrepancy is the one that makes them complement each other, thus, forming a couple without which the world could not exist.
